Writing a good and attractive synopsis is part of packaging your book. It is equally important to write a gripping synopsis as it is to write a good story. A well written synopsis can attract readers toward your book. I don’t recommend writing a lengthy synopsis. Keep it short but make sure it has the essential elements.
A good synopsis should have the following:
- Main characters of your story.
- Setting of your book. Many writers give the setting of the book as much importance as the characters themselves.
- Main conflict (very important)
- Emotions associated with the main conflict. Emotion is what hooks the reader, therefore it is important to include this piece.
Don’t include subplots in your synopsis.
