Humpty Sharma ki Dulhania- Worth it!

Just yesterday I watched Humpty Sharma ki Dulhania. This film stars Varun Dhawan as Humpty Sharma, a fun loving, soft kind of guy who is just looking for true love. This film also stars Alia Bhatt as Kavya Pratap Singh, a girl who has her mind set on visiting her mama to buy a designer lehenga in Delhi. Instead she meets Humpty, the love of her life.

This film stars Sidharth Shukla as well, who is making his debut in Bollywood through Humpty Sharma ki Dulhania. I felt Sidharth portrayed his role well, but I would have wished to see him more on the silver screen. One of the supporting characters was Ashutosh Rana, who played Kavya’s father. Ashutosh’s role was very convincing and greatly reminded me of Amrish Puri, who played Simram’s father in Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge. Humpty Sharma ki Dulhania actually did resemble DDLJ in a number of ways.

I felt this movie was the perfect combination of romance, drama, and comedy. The drama was the perfect amount and the emotions were displayed perfectly without overdoing it. There definitely was a lot of romance in the movie. Surprisingly enough, there was a great deal of comedy in the movie. It was those little quirks that they would have in between scenes that made this movie comedic.

I felt that this movie had exceptional music! For some movies you need to listen to the songs 3 or 4 times to finally like them, but with these songs, you hear them and become attached. The most popular song of the movie, Saturday Saturday, is definitely one of the best party songs out there. This song is presented at the end of the movie, during the credits scene. D se Dance, Lucky tu Lucky me, and Daingad Daingad are all very catchy songs to dance to, at different occasions. Emotional fool is the playful, quirky track of the film. Samjhawan is the soulful, heartfelt song of the film. I feel that this definitely is one of the best tracks of the film, because of the emotion that is displayed through Arijit Singh’s deep and  passionate voice. Samjhawan unplugged sung by Alia Bhatt is also very genuine and from the heart. The song sounds very different than all the others because of Alia’s voice which sounds different from any other singer out there.

So, all in all, I would definitely say that you should go watch Humpty Sharma ki Dulhania, since the acting was done very well, the soundtrack was great, and the storyline was romance with a twist.
