Inside Edge – A Gripping Amazon Original Series!

I just binged watched Inside Edge – an Amazon original series produced in India with some remarkable actors.

I happen to stumble upon it just browsing through Amazon’s TV shows and I couldn’t stop watching once I started. The story based on a Cricket league backdrop is very gripping and fast-paced. There is some amazing acting by one of the best Bollywood actors and they keep you on the edge of your seat.

Clearly, India is realizing that digital is the way to go. You can do so much more with a series because you are not limited by movie length or censor etc. I hope we will see more such shows. I am definitely looking forward to season 2 of Inside Edge!

“Curb Your Enthusiasm” will tickle your funny bone!

I used to always say there is no comedy show like Seinfeld until I stumbled upon Curb Your Enthusiasm and I absolutely am loving watching it on Amazon Prime. It reminds you in so many ways of the iconic Seinfeld show. After all we do have a common thread in Larry David who is starring as himself in Curb Your Enthusiasm.

Much like Seinfeld, its a show about nothing but you can pretty much relate to every episode because it brings humor in everyday happenings in life. Larry David is funny in a quirky way. Very quickly you start to empathize with him and at the same time you are laughing at him. It’s hard to explain in words, you just have to watch the show. If you loved Seinfeld, you will like this show as well!

Ozark – a promising Netflix show!

If you liked Breaking Bad series, you are also going to like the new Netflix crime drama, titled Ozark. Without revealing the story line, I see a few similarities between Ozark and Breaking Bad in terms of how gripping they both are and the underlying theme of a family man stuck in a life-altering sticky situation and how he manages to survive against all odds.

The plot lines and gray characters of Ozark are truly fascinating and overall the show is quite engaging. I am glad that the series has got an approval for another season. Looking forward to the second season!

Hasan Minhaj’s Netflix Special: Emotional & Funny!

Upon my daughter’s recommendation, I recently watched Hasan Minhaj: Homecoming King on Netflix and simply loved it! I hadn’t heard of Hasan Minhaj until the recent White House correspondents dinner when he was trending on social media for his hilarious jokes.

Hasan Minhaj: Homecoming King is not only hilarious but also quite emotional in places. Both me (as an immigrant) and my daughter (as an American born Indian) connected with him so much that its impossible to not like him. What I loved about Hasan is how connected he is to his roots and his culture. His usage of Hindi was apt and spoke volumes about his ingrained culture. In this day and age, a lot of immigrants let go of their cultural roots in order to fit in but Hasan seems like his is very comfortable in his skin and that to me is his USP.

This one and a half hour Netflix special is worth watching and you will really crack up in places and connect so much emotionally as well!

Tribute to Manisha Koirala was the best in TKSS!

The Kapil Sharma Show is known for giving tributes to Bollywood stars such as Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Shah Rukh Khan and others. However, last week’s tribute to Manisha Koirala was by far the best! Kudos to Kiku Sharda for pulling that off on her famous song, Ek Ladki Ko Dekha…What a beautiful melody and a justified performance for inspiring Manisha!

Manisha Koirala’s life story is truly inspiring and she is spreading her courage through various events. When I watched her TED talk, I myself was inspired.

The Kapil Sharma Show is growing with new characters and cast and I hope it keeps creating such wonderful moments along with contagious laughter every weekend!

The Night Of – Great Mini Series!

I just finished watching The Night Of mini series on HBO and was quite intrigued by it. It is a crime drama but what makes it unique and interesting is the way it is told! After we have seen many shows on crime, the nuances lie in acting and story-telling. This show grips you so strongly in the first episode that you have got to watch the rest!

While story-telling in The Night Of is at its best, the unique subtle way of acting is marvelous. There are no melodramatic scenes whatsoever and the characters are supremely well developed. My favorites are Naz and John Stone (the lawyer)!

And to top it all, the end is quite satisfying. Watch it for its uniqueness, it won’t let you down..

KBC gig in The Kapil Sharma Show was hilarious!

I had a nice laugh yesterday watching Salman Khan‘s episode of The Kapil Sharma Show. I have to admit our weekends are so much more fun and we wait eagerly to watch this show on Saturdays and Sundays. Kapil’s team is getting better and better with various gigs in the new show.

In yesterday’s episode, the KBS gig was mind-blowing. I was laughing out loud on the questions and Dr. Gulati’s responses. Kapil was in his element in this particular show not just with comedy but also his singing and wit.

I liked how Salman and Kapil subtly mentioned Colors and Sony. I don’t know if its just me but it felt like Salman was holding back, perhaps because of his loyalty to Colors but Anushka was a real sport. Every time I watch this show, I really am in awe of Sunil Grover‘s talents. He puts in so much in each and every character he plays, that he makes the character real and lovable.

Good going Kapil and team, keep making us laugh!
